The Olympic Torch was on its way to Wigan with TV presenter
Kirsty Gallacher.
Before she arrived Total Fitness had organised an action packed
timetable of activities in the centre of town and had chosen to
support Joining Jack on this exciting day.
Natalie Wood and her team from Total Fitness had an early start,
arriving at 7am wearing their Joining Jack t-shirts, all raring to
go.
Unfortunately after a week of glorious sunshine the heavens
decided to open and threaten to spoil the party. But you can't put
the people of Wigan off with a bit of rain, spirits weren't
dampened and the first Spin class with Sherley got things off to a
start.
As the fundraising gathered momentum, the rain cleared away and
the Joining Jackpot's team from Total Fitness stepped it up a gear
in front of the gathering crowd.
There was a combat display and then on the main stage Gemma had
the people of Wigan dancing the Zumba!

Joining Jack Ambassador Kris Radlinski and rugby star Sean
O'Loughlin came and showed their commitment to Joining Jack's
mission to raise money to find a cure for Duchenne Muscular
Dystrophy. Linking arms together with Jack's dad and the Total
Fitness team
they stood shoulder to shoulder and showed their support.
As well as raising money and awareness Joining Jack wants its
team of fundraising 'Jack Jackpots' to have fun while they are
involved with the charity.
It's all about coming together and seeing what can happen when
you become part of a team.
Sean O'Loughlin even had a go at scaling a climbing wall for
us.
Thanks to Wigan Youth Zone, St John's ambulance and the C4C bus
for joining Total Fitness as they stood up and said 'We're Joining
Jack, people of Wigan are you?'

Fitness, fun and raising the profile of a good cause;, that was
the order of the day and then to top it all off Kirsty Gallacher
jogged under the railway bridge and up on to Wallgate carrying the
Olympic torch . Wigan was waiting with a massive cheer and flags
a-flying! Tina Turner's 'Simply the Best' turned into a
ountdown from 10 to 0 as the Torch Entourage arrived. Kirsty
handed the torch to scout leader Norman Brown as the official Torch
theme played and then when it reached the top of Wigan the music
from Chariots of Fire filled the air.
Great Day, great support for Joining Jack. The people of Wigan,
who have long been proud to be known as ancient and loyal, showed
the country whose eyes were upon us that we're true to the words on
our Wigan coat of arms and we will 'Progress with Unity' in all we
do.
Joining Jack are asking you everyone to get on board, we're
joining jack, are you?
